Paris Wolf--"The color coded collars sounds great at first until you realize there are ways a pitbull can get a yellow or green collar such as a black market of used collars, trading or using collars designated for a different dog. This kind b of legislating is over reaching and would be hard to enforce. BSL legislation makes more sense than thiese rules"

A rash of serious dog attacks in Calgary has at least once city councillor suggesting all dogs be muzzled for their first year of life. Ward 2 Coun. Joe Magliocca told...

  • Dawn Dalyce the first year? Deadly maulings are usually done by dogs that are 3-8 years old !
  • Paris Wolf Won't stop dog attacks. Why must all dogs bee subject to muzzling? That is crazy. Certain fighting breed types perhaps as a bsl legislation, muzzle any time .
  • Stacy Renee SnowMy dog was biting as soon as I brought him home at 2 months old. By 6 months he was what I'd consider dangerous, at least to the elderly and children. I'd say 6 months to a year but no younger than that. I would love to see a muzzle law for any dog that has been known to bite. There's one here that killed guinea pigs and they wrote it off as a bite but she has an idiot for an owner who walks her, so I dont walk mine anymore for his safety and stress level. You just know she's going to end up biting someone or killing a dog in the future.
  • Julia Lewis At two months old they are doing that puppy biting but it's normal puppy behaviour. They are exploring with their mouths. What kind of dog is he, Stacey Stacy Renee Snow?
  • Julia Lewis I agree, dogs that have bitten should wear muzzles. I've got one that does. But it's mad to require ALL dogs to wear muzzles.
  • Christy Cornell"All dogs muzzled..."

So there ya go. This is where it leads to when you bow to the politically correct mantra of not seeing differences between breeds. Every dog gets blamed when you choose not to blame the breed which so commonly is the type of dog

  • Ricky Prince I hope he wins it. I hope it passes and Gordon setters, cocker spaniels and pugs need to be muzzled for a,full year. This is what it will take for the apathetic pet owner to get up off their fucking asses and distance themselves from the pit bull owner.
  • Gail L Rosbach I agree Ricky, and it will be horrible for all dogs to have to pay for what the Pit Bulls do. But, maybe owners of other dogs will become outraged and finally do something. People have become way too complacent. they see the wrong, but until something happens in their own backyard they sit back and wait for "somebody to do something"

  • Paris WolfSo as we know, many of the pitbul owners are responsible people and always secure their dogs well, liscense them, rabies vaccinate them; We can expect them to muzzle their dogs for one year from birth (they all wouldn't lie about their pitbulls age would they?).

The color coded collars sounds great at first until you realize there are ways a pitbull can get a yellow or green collar such as a black market of used collars, trading or using collars designated for a different dog. This kind b of legislating is over reaching and would be hard to enforce. BSL legislation makes more sense than thiese rules.

  • Lynne Smith They say BSL is expensive. So then they suggest laws for 100% of the dog population instead of 6% - and this is supposed to be cheaper??
  • Lorena McGovern Well, we knew it was coming. All dogs get to suffer because the 6% pit bull population has caused so much damage due to its breeding AND the shitty owners that own them and let them run amok.
